We were blessed with a gorgeous summer day and hundreds of participants, volunteers, and donors that made for a successful and inspirational event. The event reached all goals of
#1. Increasing awareness
#2. Increasing registration numbers
#3. Raising enough funds to sponsor a sarcoma research grant
More than 400 runners and walkers celebrated the life of Saratoga County teenager Parker Hayes at the 2015 Team Sarcoma 5K on Saturday at Saratoga Spa State Park. Together participants and sponsors raised more than $40,000 to support research for sarcoma, the disease that claimed Hayes’ life in February. Parker, an avid runner, was just 13-years-old when he lost his 40-month-battle with Ewing’s sarcoma. The first place male finisher was 27-year-old Jeff Goupil of Ballston Lake at 17:08. The first place female finisher was 22-year-old Megan Romer of Altamont at 24:31.
Congrats and thank you to all who participated! More posts to follow with more photos, updated totals on donations, and plans for next year’s event.
