Our 10th annual Sarcoma Strong 5k in the Capital District of New York was a huge success. The weather cooperated and we had a near record turnout with over 550 participants, an amazing group of volunteers, and Chris Onorato from NewsChannel 13 as our master of ceremonies. Thank you to all who believe in our mission and support Sarcoma Strong Inc. through participating, donating, volunteering, or sponsoring our event.
Our global event participation numbers hit a record high of 1558 registered to date and climbing. When your add on the number of non-participant donors of 658, so far we have 2,216 participants and donors in 2023. What an inspiring event!
Our honoree, Kyle Stickles, lead the race off by firing the horn. He was joined by a strong Team Kyle as they completed the 5k course. Congressman Paul Tonko also helped to add some inspirational words and encouragement for the promise of research allocation of government funding opportunities for rare cancers.
1st place finisher, Jared Larson, completed the slightly long (almost 3.2 mile) course in a blistering time of 16:12. Of note, he won the event in 2022 as well. Will he three-peat?

Our global fundraising in 2023 exceeded our expectations and goals. We have currently raised >$185,000 to support sarcoma research this year alone. We have 4 months to go. Who knows where our ceiling will be? At least one more event in Dallas, Texas, September 16th.
