What is Mental Grit?  In the past few months the term has repeatedly made it into my life and now vocabulary.  It was at World’s Toughest Mudder when I heard the inspirational speech you can listen to below.  An event strongly rooted in our military whose proceeds help support the Wounded Warrior Project clearly tests its competitors mental grit with a 24 hour endurance obstacle race.  A recent post includes last year’s event documentary.

“Living with a Seal,” by Jesse Itzler, a recent read, also serves up a healthy dose of mental grit and stamina.  The story is about an entrepreneur who hires a Navy seal to come live with his family and train him for 31 days.  Jesse saw a transformation in his workouts, his strength, but probably mostly in his mental grit.

Then I stumbled upon this blog on mental toughness by James Clear who is a writer and researcher on behavioral psychology, habit formation, and performance improvement.  He nicely outlines how mental toughness or “grit” can be impactful in our health our work and our lives.
