Rita was diagnosed with a sarcoma in 2010. After learning more about sarcoma and the need for research and better funding she became passionately involved with the Sarcoma Foundation of America. Her work has helped generate funds, awareness, and hope for the 12,000 individuals diagnosed with this rare malignancy annually. Rita lost her battle with sarcoma on November 20, 2014. May she be remembered for her courage, her desire to help others facing this rare cancer, and for giving so many hope through research funding and advocacy.
