How long should you be followed after the diagnosis of soft tissue sarcoma?

Once diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma, how long is long enough to be followed?  A recent study out of India suggests routine follow-up does not need to extend past 10 years.  867 patients were evaluated for local and distant (metastatic disease) recurrence.  They found 95% of those who developed a local recurrence did so within 8.6 years, and that 95% of patients who developed metastases did so within 7.3 years.  For more details the article is included at bottom of post.
