Getting involved with fighting cancer outside the confines of my office and operating room has given me the honor of meeting some amazing people. Two years ago a team of 3 strangers ran cross country for sarcoma awareness and to generate funds for research under an organization called Miles2Give. When one of my local sarcoma families introduced me to Miles2Give I could not help but be inspired by what these amazing people were doing. They inspired me to run for those who were not as fortunate, and so I could join them on their trek across country. A trip to Denver and Chicago for longs weekends of running with the team left me with many lifelong memories and continues to inspire me to give back.
One of those three runners, John McKay, was inspired to do more for Childhood Cancer. He formed a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization called
4ANOTHER
The mission of 4Another is to encourage global awareness and participation in funding childhood cancer research through activity-based tours. This summer John and his team set out from Virginia Beach on June 20th, 2015 and head West to Los Angeles, CA on foot. Check out their web page and follow the tour on facebook or twitter.
