I spent the last week at a national orthopaedic conference, the AAOS (American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons) Annual meeting surrounded by colleagues, in a stimulating venue, and creative energy. At the MSTS (Musculoskeletal Tumor Society) specialty day our efforts with Sarcoma Strong were highlighted and applauded. We have now become the main funding source for research grants supported through the MSTS. It has been my goal for the last year or so to have other centers throughout the country model an event like our Sarcoma Strong 5k to help grow our funding for impactful research. Well the time is now. The energy is there. A few centers in Detroit, New York, and Florida expressed interest in hosting their own events. We also discussed and will implement a “virtue run event” on our registration website. This will allow people from all over the country and world for that matter to register, run in their local communities, and build their own fundraising pages. The support is there for this to work. The momentum is building. Help us spread the word. Registration site will be coming SOON!
